Bedside Procedures

Procedures

  • Consent required for ALL common ICU procedures except peripheral IVs and Arterial Lines.
  • Obtain Consent Form or better yet the Common ICU Consent!
  • Most supplies for common procedures can be found on the procedure cart for the red and blue sides. Ask your fellow for a key or find a key in the ICU attending room marked “PROCEDURE CART.”
  • Discuss ALL procedures with Fellow or Attending first!
  • Your attendings and fellows want to be there for procedures!

If you don’t know, it’s okay to ask. If you don’t ask and cause harm, it’s not okay. Do no harm.
